Stochastic Analysis of the Marginal and Dependence Structure of Streamflows: From Fine-Scale Records to Multi-Centennial Paleoclimatic Reconstructions

The identification of the second-order dependence structure streamflow has been one oldest challenges in hydrological sciences, dating back to pioneering work H.E Hurst on Nile River. Since then, several large-scale studies have investigated temporal spanning from hourly climatic scale, covering multiple orders magni-tude. In this study, we expanded range almost eight magnitude by analysing small-scale time series (in order minutes) ground stations and hundreds years) acquired paleocli-matic reconstructions. We aimed determine fractal behaviour long-range de-pendence streamflow. Additionally, assessed first four marginal moments each test whether they follow similar behaviours as sug-gested other literature. results provide evidence identifying a common stochastic for process, based Pareto–Burr–Feller dis-tribution generalized Hurst–Kolmogorov (HK) structure.
